The Last Golden Hour, Note by Note
07 The Last Golden Hour pairs warm amber and blonde tobacco with bitter orange, dried fruit and rum, with tonka and vanilla beneath.
A note pyramid can suggest a tidier sequence than a fragrance gives on skin. Here, the useful contrast is bitter orange against the warmth of tobacco, dried fruit and rum.
Amber and blonde tobacco
Warm amber sits with blonde tobacco: pale, dry and faintly sweet.
Bitter orange, dried fruit and rum
Bitter orange gives the dried fruit a bright edge against the warmth of amber and tobacco.
The dried-fruit note is dark and dense, nearer to jam than juice. Rum adds a warm, boozy accent.
Tonka and vanilla
Tonka and vanilla give this part of the scent description a soft, rounded character. Natural tonka absolute can have almond, vanilla-praline and tobacco facets; the note name does not confirm which materials are used in 07.
Other amber fragrances
05 Plum Beneath Snow sets syrupy plum and spice over smoked oud and resin. 08 Beyond The Horizon pairs bergamot and ginger with smoky black tea and warm amber woods.
02 What Remains of Summer pairs dry amber with ripe mango, pomelo, ginger and vetiver. 07 keeps its amber with blonde tobacco, bitter orange, dried fruit, rum, tonka and vanilla.
Choosing it
07 comes in 10ml, 30ml and 50ml. The 10ml lets you live with it for a while before a larger bottle, which is the case Blind Buying Is the Most Expensive Habit in Fragrance makes at length.
